- Actively move (without the use of your hands) the treated muscles for the first few hours after treatment. This helps make the treatment more effective by working the BOTOX® Cosmetic into your muscles.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours – walking is fine.
- Please do not massage or push on the treated areas of the face for 24 hours after your treatment. Doing so might potentially spread the BOTOX® Cosmetic to untreated areas.
- Please do not lie down for 4 hours. This also helps decrease potential migration.
- Be assured that any tiny bumps from Botox or red marks will go away within a few hours after your treatment. There is a small risk of bruising with BOTOX®.
- The use of Arnica Montana (oral or topical) post injection will decrease potential bruising. Ice and Tylenol may be used to aid with pain relief when necessary.
- Continue to avoid alcohol for 24 hours, all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and natural blood thinning supplements listed above as these can increase any potential bruising.
- The weakening effect of the treated muscles gradually begins anywhere from 2 – 10 days. Optimal results are usually seen around two weeks. Schedule a follow-up at 2 weeks to check for symmetry, appearance & efficacy.
- Schedule your next BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment approximately 3 months out.

Plasma Pen
Watch this video on how to properly take care of yourself following your treatment
- Swelling is to be expected after this type of treatment. This is due to the fact that the area will be recovering from a deliberate, controlled burn - therefore the natural side effect is swelling.
- Arnica in pill form can be purchased but is not mandatory. Arnica is an all natural homeopathic herb that helps to promote faster healing within the body and aids in inflammation and repair. Drs. often suggest it prior to surgeries. Suggested intake is 3 tabs dissolved under the tongue 3x per day.
- Try to lay propped up with pillows. Do not lay completely horizontal. Weeping from the treated area is normal as well as some pain and discomfort. The swelling will likely be worse in the mornings and lessen towards the evening. You may find it difficult to open your eyes in the morning following the treatment however, it will subside throughout the day. It will feel like a bad sunburn.
- The swelling typically peaks by day 2. Do not be surprised if the swelling is worse on the 2nd day. Remember: swelling is worse in the mornings and lessens throughout the day. Swelling can also spread to the under-eye area. DON'T PANIC this is perfectly normal. The upper and lower eye are all connected therefore the fluids from the upper eye will drain to the lower eye area. Discomfort and pain are still present and to be expected on the second day.
- You will notice an improvement in the swelling and the “dots” will start to crust/ scab over. The scabs must not be picked, allow them to fall off on their own. Your level of discomfort will have subsided dramatically. Minimal pain is expected for the third day. For those who experienced the under eye swelling, this will still be present.
- Some mild residual swelling may still be present on the upper eyelids. No more pain or discomfort should be felt. Swelling should be complete and scabs may still be present. The under eye swelling should be almost completely resolved by this point if not gone.
