PRP preparation for skin rejuvenation

PRP and PRP DermaFILLER: A Natural Approach to Skin Rejuvenation

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy uses a small sample of your own blood, concentrated to be rich in platelets and growth factors, to stimulate collagen and support your skin's natural renewal. Because it comes from your own body, many clients see it as a natural option for rejuvenation.

How PRP works

A small amount of blood is drawn, similar to a routine lab draw. It is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. That plasma is then applied to or injected into the skin, where growth factors help signal collagen and elastin production. At Allied, we use the Cellenis® PRP system.

Three ways PRP is used

  • PRP injections: placed into areas such as under the eyes or across the face to improve texture and tone.
  • PRP DermaFILLER: your plasma is gently heated to form a gel that can be injected to add soft, natural volume, without hyaluronic acid.
  • Microneedling with PRP: often called the "vampire facial," PRP is applied during microneedling so it can work through the tiny channels created in the skin. See our microneedling comparison.

Who is a good candidate?

PRP is a good fit for people who want gradual, natural improvement in skin quality, fine lines, dark or hollow under-eyes, or acne scarring, and for those who prefer a treatment made from their own body. Your provider will review your health history; PRP isn't recommended for some blood disorders or while taking certain medications.

What to expect

Redness, swelling, tenderness or mild bruising are common and usually settle within a few days. Results build gradually over several weeks as new collagen develops, and a series of treatments is often recommended.

How PRP compares with traditional filler

Hyaluronic acid filler gives instant, predictable volume. PRP DermaFILLER gives a softer, more gradual result made from your own plasma. Neither is "better"; they suit different goals, and your provider can help you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Is PRP safe?

Because it uses your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is very low. Your provider will screen for conditions that make PRP a poor fit.

How long do results last?

Collagen improvements can last many months, and maintenance treatments help keep results going.
